Format a shape

Easily customize how a shape looks by changing the shape size, shape color, border color, and border thickness, as well as toggling the option to lock it to the canvas.

Change the shape size

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Grab a corner of the shape and drag to resize it

    or
  3. Change the width and height in the Metrics panel

Change the border thickness

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Adjust the line thicknesses in the properties bar

    or
  3. Adjust the line thickness in the Graphic panel

Change the shape color (option #1)

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Click on the Fill color box on the properties bar to open the color picker
  3. Select the color you want and it will recolor the shape

Change the shape color (option #2)

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Open the Graphic panel from the Dock
  3. Click the color box under "Fill"
  4. Select the color you want and it will recolor the shape

Change the border color (option #1)

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Click on the line color box on the property bar to open the color picker
  3. Select the color you want and it will recolor the border

Change the border color (option #2)

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Open the Graphic panel in the Dock
  3. Click the color preview under Fill
  4. Select the color you want and it will recolor the border

Apply a simple gradient

  1. Select the shape by single-clicking on it
  2. Click on the "Fill" box on the properties bar
  3. Select the gradient circle at the bottom of the panel
  4. The Graphic panel appears and fills the object with a simple gradient with a lighter tone of the existing color
  5. Select the angle of the gradient and its colors under the "Simple Gradient" option

Apply an advanced gradient (continued from simple gradient)

  1. For even more control over your gradient, select "Advanced Gradient" from the "Fill" menu
  2. Add and modify colors in the gradient bar. Click anywhere along the bar to add more colors and slide markers to change the intensity
  3. Modify the gradient using the sliders. Click and drag a slider left or right to adjust color location. Single-click a slider to adjust it's color. Click anywhere below the gradient bar to add an additional color stop. Multiple color stops can be added.
  4. Choose between radial or linear gradient and change its angle

Change Shape

  1. To change the style of shape in the diagram, right-click on the shape
  2. Select 'Change Shape' from the menu
  3. Choose the shape you wish to change to from the list of shapes

Lock shape to canvas

  1. Select the shape by single clicking on it
  2. Click on the lock symbol on the properties bar
